Stepping into Hayama Torigin, you're immediately greeted by a warm, casual environment that sets the tone for a memorable meal. The open grill at the center of the restaurant fills the air with the irresistible scent of grilling skewers, making it impossible not to anticipate the feast ahead. The restaurant’s atmosphere combines the rustic feel of an izakaya with the comfort of home, making it an ideal spot for both intimate dinners and gatherings with friends or family.

What truly sets Hayama Torigin apart from other dining options in the area is its dedication to quality. The restaurant specializes in yakitori, skewered chicken grilled to perfection, but it doesn’t stop there. Every dish on the menu is crafted with care, from the carefully chosen cuts of chicken to the side dishes that complement the main offerings. One standout is the tare sauce, a rich, savory concoction that adds depth and complexity to the grilled meats. The balance between smoky grilled flavors and the savory sweetness of tare is something you’ll remember long after your meal.

The menu at Hayama Torigin offers a range of options for everyone. Whether you're in the mood for a simple skewer of chicken thigh or you want to try something more adventurous like chicken hearts or liver, there’s no shortage of variety. For those who prefer to keep things light, there are plenty of appetizers like crispy tempura vegetables and refreshing salads. And if you’re looking to add a little more indulgence to your meal, the restaurant also offers rich, flavorful rice dishes that are the perfect accompaniment to the grilled skewers.

Aside from the food, what makes Hayama Torigin stand out is the friendly and attentive service. The staff, many of whom have been with the restaurant for years, know the menu inside and out and are always eager to offer recommendations. Whether you're a first-timer or a regular, they make you feel at home from the moment you step through the door. Their knowledge of the dishes and the way they pair them with drinks is impressive, so don’t hesitate to ask for suggestions if you’re unsure what to order.

The drink menu complements the food offerings wonderfully. From ice-cold beers to a selection of sake, you’ll find the perfect drink to pair with your meal. One great option is the umeshu, a sweet and tangy plum wine that pairs beautifully with the grilled meats. Whether you're a fan of cocktails, beer, or sake, Hayama Torigin has a drink to match your preferences and elevate your dining experience.

When it comes to location, Hayama Torigin couldn’t be better situated. Hayama, with its peaceful coastal views and relaxed atmosphere, is the perfect backdrop for a leisurely meal. • Really delicious yakitori, served fast and hot. Kamameshi was good, it's a fairly simple traditional dish that's good to try. English menu. Parking on site and fairly big space inside. Kid friendly.

  • If you want to experience the best Yakitori (traditional Japanese grilled chicken bites on a skewer) as well as Kamameshi (rice pots), this is the place to come. The Yakitori here is simply wonderful, and you will likely not find another as good in the region. Grilled to perfection, all their offerings are juicy and tender, without being overly grilled or burnt. I still can’t figure out how they grill their onions so that they are fully cooked without being charred. Try everything on the menu… they have an electronic system now, so you can see pictures and order by each piece. Honestly, it’s not a bad idea to just order one of everything! Pro Tip - if you come in early June, sit by the window by the river after dark. The hotaru (fireflies) will light up the night, and create simply “otherworldly” experience during your meal. This restaurant is worth coming to as a destination.

  • Excellent vegetable appetizers, perfect yakitori plate, and very favorable kettle rice dishes. This is a place to enjoy a great meal as a frequent customer. Great plate presentation. Worth the 30 min with for food.

  • Great food and atmosphere. We’ve been coming here for a couple of years and had brought friends on several occasions. The only turn off in these last few visits was that the older gentleman who greets guest kept on suggesting we have to speak Japanese on two separate visits to me and my girlfriend, and made us feel quite uncomfortable as foreigners. Apart from that all the rest of the staffs had shown great hospitality and provided great service.

  • Location of restaurant is far from town, and it is very quiet. You may order Kamameshi, which is cooked from raw rice with your choice, like chicken with egg, salmon, crab, earl, shrimp, and so on. You have to wait about for 30 minutes. It is suggested to order Yakitori set served with 12 sticks, and/or Tofu salad, while Kamameshi is ready. Yakitori or Tofu salad could be shared with a couple of people. Free parking about for 20 cars is available.

  • If you want really good Yakitori (Chicken on stick) and freshly cooked hot rice mix this is the place to go. The Yakitori is right off the grill and you can get all kinds. Chicken skin was one of my favorites and you can get it with their Yakitori sauce or salted. both are good and can't go wrong with either. We also got two large portion size of the rice bowls and this takes about 20 mins as they cook the rice with he mixture, we got the vegetables and seafood version and they were both great. Plenty of seats available and have a ticket counter to check in. This part is just Japanese so you may need to get some assistance. However ordering is done through a tablet and it does have English on their and their menu has some English on them. They have parking spaces available and if it is super crowded you can park on the street. Worth a drive over to get the food here. We will come back again.
